As Wednesday appeared the Nettles got sheared.....
They have indeed, i've never harvested so much Nettle! Annie and myself have been extremely busy cutting down as much as possible. Ive also bee n busy packaging up Seeds. Not long after the Permaculture group started it quickly became apparent t hat the saving of Seed in the community was something of great importance and interest to us. This is for a myriad of reasons revolving around topics of Seed and food Sovereignty and Security, Health and Environmental factor s. For me personally it also links in to my philosophical ponderings on Natural cycles, the Niche/s of Homo Sapiens on this Planet and our possible role as Guardians of Nature.....
.....And so the community Seedbank was born!
We take it to all events we attend, you can also contact us and as far as we are able we will get the Seeds to you in person or post them. There is a list on this website under the Seed heading of what we currently hold in the Bank although it will be out of date post Nettlefest as we will have it with us on the day and hope to be able to give out as many as possible. We will endeavor to update the online list as soon as possible after the day.
The Seedbank is FREE we just ask that you will consider saving some Seed yourself and donating some back into the bank. If you would like some advice on Seed Saving we can help with some tips and have information to share!
Thankyou to everyone who has helped and supported the Seedbank in anyway so far we really appreciate it.....don't forget to come and have a look at NETTLEFEST and see if we can tempt you into growing your own!
